It felt like forever, but on day 2 of life, George had his echo. Rich texted me and unfortunately I couldn’t be there. I knew deep down that Rich was a wreck because we just didn’t know what to expect. He tried to listen in on what was being said and I know for a fact he was just pacing back and forth. We were both in a state of panic and I’m sure you already know that only doctors can relay results. This meant we had to wait for the results to come back. It wasn’t until 3 hours later, our primary cardiologist came. My heart started to race and I instantly texted Rich to come back upstairs. He had been keeping family company in my room while I was with George. I still have no idea how he got to me so fast, but looked at me with worry and held my hand while he sat down.
The cardiologist told us that George’s results were in and she was able to take a look at them. My heart skipped a beat as I knew what was coming. She explained that everything looked good and he still had some very mild dilation, but nothing concerning. She proceeded to tell us that he is still showing two very small muscular VSDs, as well as, one ASD, all which are expected to close up. Rich and I looked at each other and it was as if our eyeballs were going to pop out! We could not believe what we were hearing. On December 8th, George was signed off by cardiology.
